Our Journey to becoming a source for healing . . . .

Mustard Seed Herbary had its formal beginnings in 1997 when we opened our retail location in Surprise, Arizona - in response to a great need in the city of Phoenix and surrounding communities for more natural health alternatives.

Specializing in herbal remedies and complementary therapies, our goal then and now, continues to be to help people be proactive in their personal health!

We strive to serve people in becoming more aware of healthcare choices which are often ignored by the modern medical community. “Clients find that even though initially it seems more expensive to support their health with ‘more-traditional’ methods, it usually saves money in the long run. As insurance benefits are reduced or eliminated, people are increasingly finding it substantially more affordable to be proactive about their health with natural herbs, vitamins, and other traditional and wholistic remedies,” says owner, Ellen Griswold. “We do everything we can to support you in your effort to improve the quality of your life through quality goods and genuine, caring service.”

    My personal commitment for healing . . . .

Mustard Seed Herbary is owned and managed by me, Ellen Griswold, a certified Herb Specialist and Natural Health Professional. I learned early in life how important good eating habits and nutritional supplements are to supporting good health, and as a young adult was interested in keeping well through nutrition. When a family member became seriously ill, the search for alternative healing methods intensified. After seeing how helpful good quality, appropriate supplements can be, it became important for me to share experiences and knowledge in order to help others receive the benefits of nutrition for better health!

I completed my training with Nutritional Resources as a Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP) in 1999 and continue to attend seminars and conferences across the nation to further my knowledge. The highlight of my training career was when Nature’s Sunshine Products took our herbalist training group to visit China and learn more about the respected and ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine firsthand.

I also teach classes, offer essential oil workshops, herbal consultations, and wellness coaching on a variety of health-related topics through Mustard Seed Herbary. I’ve taken a lot of formal classes and workshops on natural health, but really the best teacher is first-hand experience with various herbs as well as learning from the experiences of those we help in our business. I learn so much from my clients, especially those I work with through in-depth health consultations.

I also enjoy working closely with other caring, natural health practitioners in getting started with the herb and essential oils business. The natural health business is a great business to have, as so many people are beginning to see the benefits of herbs and other natural therapies. It is meaningful work, and very rewarding to help others be successful!
